Default GC8 compatibility

I'm looking to upgrade ECU soon as the car is WAY overdue for an upgrade from the old school possum link.

I know for GC8s the autronic pnp smc is the way to go. But I have a 97 wrx and my research has shown the smc is for 99-00 wrxs. Will it still be a direct fitting replacement or does some of the wiring have to be altered? Same question applies to my other option which is the pnp motec m800.

You can get a pnp autronic for 97 but they are
Hard to find. Doug has one try him.

Other way around it is buy a wire in SMC or m800 and buy an adaptor harness and match the pinouts to suit. I'm looking to do the above if I can get hold of an adaptor harness

Ah that was you! Im going to try and source the new ecu within 3 weeks so I'll sell the link around then. Might go the m800 even if its overkill in options/price. Thats not my concern. Sounds much cooler having a motec!

Yeah, they definately made them back in the day, and I have one but it's not for sale. I reckon they probaly no longer do a plug in for anything that old but it would be worth asking a dealer.

Why not stick with the Link?

+1

I dont see the need to change anything on that car unless its broken.

Was good for ~ 52s @ Collie, 56s @ Barbs ST and 60s at AHG Track.

Unless you've beaten any of those times?
