CALLER. They are a spare water reserve tank and most people have them.

ME. Everyone except me, i gotta go now i need a shower thanks anyway.

end of call.

Fozzy 18-07-2009 11:00 AM

scoobygez 18-07-2009 11:02 AM

Fozzy 18-07-2009 11:04 AM

Are you honestly this dumb?

Stevo B 18-07-2009 11:04 AM

Get a silent number mate, weve allways had one and we dont get calls unless we have provided someone with our number
Get a silent number mate, weve allways had one and we dont get calls unless we have provided someone with our number
agreed & that do not call register doesnt work for international based calls.

scoobygez 18-07-2009 11:12 AM

We will see....

i am presuming only people who have been given my number by me can ring ie no one else has access to it??

Fozzy 18-07-2009 11:12 AM

Honestly who signs up for something without reading it and understanding it.. Its clearly explained how it works unless you are a muppet.

Worked fine when I signed up never got another call but I no longer have a landline anyway so it doesn't matter for me.

scoobygez 18-07-2009 11:14 AM

Well hopefully it will work fine for me....

Im with ya mate, these guys have no gaul when they call up, I had some guy call up from India saying he was an autherised Telstra representative.

I called his bluff and just started abusing him, my question is why dont these fucker give me their number when I ask....

As mentioned above the best is to get a silent number, as these marketing companies either purchase the numbers from out government or just cold call from phone books.

To answer your question if you add your number to that government site it will remove your number from the lists they sell, but unfortunately you will still be listed in the phone book, so it doesnt mean much

scoobygez 18-07-2009 11:17 AM

lol cheers marc yeah they have been pissing me right off, my number in the uk was ex directory so never got these pratts ringing :)

Hopefully they wont call now..

WRXTASY 18-07-2009 11:29 AM

Just order the number 42 Butter Chicken with Kashmiri rice whenever an Indian tries to sell you something. In fact insist on it!!!

Seriously once you number is listed on the do not call register anyone that rings up and tries to sell you something is now breaking the law. Charities and phone survey people are the only companies then allowed to cold call you. Conversation goes like this....

"Are you aware my number is listed on the governments Do Not Call Register ?"

"Ah um, long pause... No Sir"
"Can I ask what company you are working for ?"

Phone line goes dead usually after that.

scoobygez 18-07-2009 11:38 AM

lol that should be fun!!

QUINNER 18-07-2009 05:38 PM

would so love to do that to someone ha ha. IMPROV!!

Foxymophandlmama 18-07-2009 06:18 PM

I use to work at a call centre. Getting a private number doesnt always work, the call lists we had were usually so old that we had the number on it from before it was made private (and before someone says "oh no telstra said my number has always been private they keep certain ones private all the time" bullshit they are lying to u.) only time a private number works is if you have had it for a really long time.

Gerry - the DNC register just stops your number appearing on "new" call lists at Australian call centres. It wont remove your number from the phone book (which is what most local companies will use when cold calling) and wont stop companies with old lists calling (the list are expensive so they dont get new ones often) and it wont stop international ones. Easiest thing to do is get caller ID and dont answer calls that come up saying they are from an "Unidentified Number" or from private numbers. You can also ask them to remove you from their call list when you do get a call, they are ment to remove you when you ask them too (we always did coz we didnt want to talk to the assholes anymore than they wanted to talk to us).

freak 18-07-2009 06:22 PM

i just let the answering machine take the call and that fucks them up as there is no one to talk to:D:D

scoobygez 18-07-2009 06:28 PM

Cheers foxy :)

Yeah alan gonna just leave the answer machine to start recording if i recognise the voice i will pick up....

jEstEr? 18-07-2009 06:30 PM

people still have a home phone?

scoobygez 18-07-2009 06:31 PM

Lol matt its cheaper to call the uk that way, that was the only reason i got a landline!!!

mr_psi 18-07-2009 06:45 PM

just hang up?

jEstEr? 18-07-2009 06:54 PM

cheaper than skype?

AWDmoke 18-07-2009 06:54 PM

Just answer and if it's a telemarketer just say "Hang on a sec" and put the phone down off the hook.
Hang up after 5-10mins, they will get the idea.

scoobygez 18-07-2009 07:06 PM

The thing is i am too polite that way, i will talk to em when i am dieing to say fuck off!!

although that idea does sound good!!

skitzyrex1 18-07-2009 07:06 PM
cheaper than skype?
Gerry,
Get on to Skype as Jester has suggested and get your friends and family back home to do the same. Once you have, hook up your web cam and talk for hours for free. You can also call landlines and mobiles at a great price if you wish to do so. And if you get real excited about it you can have call forwarding so if someone skype calls you then you can have that call directed to a mobile for example.

DAN682 18-07-2009 07:08 PM
cheaper than skype?
+2 or even Engin, you can pick Engin Voiceboxes up for $25 these days or buy an engin enabled billion router.

scoobygez 18-07-2009 07:08 PM

Not sure if my laptop will support it?? its already really slow plus i dont know anyone who is on it....

DAN682 18-07-2009 07:16 PM

You buy skype out credit and then dial a normal number

It runs on a pretty slow computer. You just need broadband to run it well say 256KB should be plenty.

scoobygez 18-07-2009 07:24 PM

I will look into that then dan cheers my broadband speed is supposed to be 512kb although it seems like half that its pretty slow lol

Foxymophandlmama 18-07-2009 07:57 PM

you wont pull 512 with ur broadband here gerry coz we are a fair distance from the exchange, i have a 8Mb connection and on my best day I still only pull about 6Mb

scoobygez 18-07-2009 08:03 PM

Thats what i am saying carol its silly slow i bet its only 300kb if i am lucky....

Rexy03 18-07-2009 08:38 PM

Test it ?
