Shiftwork.

For some reason its always the other shifts fault shit is broken. And everyone likes to think their own shift is the best thing since sliced bread.

Things break and if it happens on your shift, its just the way it is and you fix it. No dramas.

But if it happens on the opposing shift its the end of the world and "someone on the other shift decided to rewire it causing a short circuit and OMG they never fix anything". "They always leave all their shit to us to fix and just sit on their arses all day"

- Completly ignoring the fact that the opposing shift actually leaves something broken for us to fix every shift as well... Or the fact that things do actually break when they are used 24hrs a day, 365 days a year.

I have the mr fix it guy on night shift at the moment blaming everything on me, when my job has nothing to do with fixing shit. When I started this stint, the whole place had come to a complete stop for 2 days straight.

I managed to get things actually running albeit at a slow pace. No drama's, it was no ones fault the place was down. Shit was broken and we didn't have spares. Shit happens.

However, this tightwad scotsman rocks up a week later and decides its all my fault everything is only half running. Completly ignoring the fact it was his shift that left the place at a standstill for 2 days. I've never even worked with the dude ffs. My job is to do all the QC work and reporting. His job is to fix shit.

He is a qualified electrician and we had a dodgy cable that needed repairing. He couldn't manage to fix it, so he chucks a hissy fit that I can't show him how to fix it. Apparently lab supervisors are meant to know more about re wiring dodgy cables than qualified sparkies. I finally find the part number and order the cable (again its his job to do this, but he was "way too busy") and now its my fault that its not here yet... Never mind the fact its a weekend and the part will most likely have to be shipped from the eastern states. Or the fact he has his own supervisor that should be sorting out his shift.

fuck I'm glad I fly home today!
