Default Re-call brant security!!!!

so thanks to Brant security systems, Action alarms, and subarus decision to employ them, i have spent $150 on removing the system, $80 on fault finding at mechanics, hire car courtesy of my $250 per year RAC membership, $100 for the hire car insurance and airport tax, 4 hours leave i have had to take to deliver and pick up my car, and taking my girlfriend to work 35kms out of my way to work at 5:50am each morning in 5 degress.......... thanks a bunch!

if only it was the kind of fault that would appear within a warranted period.
why hasn't this been re-called or remedied by subaru? i'd love to forward my thoughts to someone who cared at subaru......but lets be honest.....my venting stops here.

Mate, in all honesty, shit does happen and it is a car, and they do break down. It is unfortunate but does happen with every type of car. Atleast you know it is all fixed now.

You've bought a car out of warranty. Expect things to go wrong. Engine could let go, turbo could shit itself, diffs could blow up, seats could squeak etc.

If you don't want to put up with older 2nd hand car problems, go buy a new one.

Plus, why are you having a go at subaru for putting a security system in your car that is far more sophisticated than any other car for the price?

The system may be a PITA because it takes 3 seconds to type in your code, or you might want to get out of your car and leave it running for longer than a minute... But I feel much safer in my car (as far is burglary is concerned) knowing that the system is installed.

If it's broken, fix it and keep it IMHO

so what you're saying is unless the car is brand new, no one is entitled to be anoyed if something breaks. i know thats not exactly your intent.....i'm just reading into it the same way you've obviously read into my post.

i agree, the brant is a rediculous piece of equipment. but as an entry level alarm, its better then a basic immobiliser.

recommended that most people either retrofit an even better alarm, or learn the quirks and get that master code ahead of time

What other alarms are there that have a pin code same as the Brant does? I took the Brant out of my 2003 WRX when I was changing over the ECU and I'd like something similar but more reliable. Don't care how much it costs, still cheaper than it being stolen and losing the car.

Additional features I'd like are remote starting via remote/key, GPS/GPRS tracking, remote (via GSM) shut-off and fingerprint entry/starting. The only way (I know of anyway) to get all those features is to combine a couple of existing systems or build one from scratch, which is by far the best option as it can then be customised to include whatever features I wish for. Hmmm, has got me thinking now....

If everyone posted a thread when something went wrong with their car, we'd have hundreds of threads per day ranting about it.
