Default Brembos and other Brakes

Now, being a scoobie newbie that i am, i will assume when people ask "Will these rims clear brembos" they are talking about the off-set of a rim to clear the brakepads that they have on their car such as Brembos.

Now, i am very keen on these KSpeed Vertigo Gold rims, but have been told by tempetyres that they will NOT clear brembos. Im wondering, with or without other peoples experiences, what are another good pad out there that i can see if they will clear?

I will try and get the offset off this "sam" dude and post it for a more accurate indication.

Thanks,

Eric

You mean calipers right, not pads?

The stock STi rims have an offset of +53, rims were 17x7.5

In saying that, the offset should be used as a guide. Generally, there are some rims which doesn't have quite the right offset but due to the spoke design, ie stick out more, fitted with brembos

i would not go brembos, if you have a WRX which is MY01 and newer. You already have a great platform with the front 4 pots and 2 pots. A set of good rotors and pads (do a search, lots of discussions) will be great for street and track

Brembos aren't cheap for the entire front and rear, as you will need to get the backing plates for the rear conversion. Fronts are direct bolt on. Then you need rims to suit as well.

and yes, someone ppl will tell you that you can fit any rims you want with the use of spacers. just bear in mind that if you do this, you will void any insurance and you won't get it engineered.

you got the 4 pots. all you need for good streability is some good rotors (DBA 4000 or DBA5000) and pads to suit (Ferodo 2500) and you're sorted

Ahh ok sweet, thats good to know. So the Brembos are actually the calipers where as the DBA 4000's etc are the rotors themselves :P. Sweet, any idea what a DBA 4000/5000 goes for? With and/or without matching pads

If your thinking of changing the rotors id try and stay away from cross drilled, ive seen quite a few that start to crack at the holes!! Go slotted
