Default Tyre size question

Lads,

I have some wheels arriving for my better halfs car.

Oem wheels are 17x7.5" 225/45/17

Wheels arriving are 19x8"

Whats the best size tyre to use? 235/35?

thanks in advance

Jme

Rule of thumb is, every inch up, you take 5 off the profile....so 45 profile on a 17" would be 40 on an 18", and 35 on a 19" to maintain the best rolling diameter.

225 on a 7.5" is correct, you can also run a 225 on an 8", or a 235 on an 8" rim with no issues...just check for clearance in the guards.

Jme that will make the speedo read 2% slower than the actual wheel speed.. SO not bad at all.

If a 245/30/19 could be obtained that would make the speedo read .7% faster than the actual wheel speed

Those are possibly the two best options

i have 235's on my 8", dont like em. 225's were nice and didnt bulge out.

i think tyrerack.com suggests a 225 width to be used with 8" rim

I thought 235s were a perfect mix for 8" rim tode.. Thats what subydude recommended as a width..

a 225/35/19 would make the speedo read .9% slower than wheel speed.. also a good option

Spot on lads, thanks for the input. Having said that, whats a good tyre at the right price?

Its for general commuting road use with the odd spirited run so nothing too soft.
