Default 05 headlight painting...

Hi folks, I haven't been able to locate this in DIY or using the search function, however I've heard that other WRX/Sti owners have pulled out their headlights, pullled them apart, and resprayed the inserts around the main globe section to black. Has anyone on these forums done this? Or are there aftermarket headlamps readily available for 05?

Cheers.
Ed

Just out of curiosity, are you trying to give the headlights a "Smoked" look ?

If you are, the cheap method is to use tinting material to wrap the headlight covers. If you get yellowed, just pull them off. I've seen the finishing product and it looks pretty good on a black car.

If this is not what you were refering to, please disregard what I just said.

Yeah not really mate. I don't want to tint the headlight plastice, rather change the colour of the actual headlight surround (which are refelctive chrome as standard) to black. These are the parts surrounding the park light, low beam light, and high beam light. I want advice from someone who has painted and done this themself.

Cheers anyway.
