Default Instructions on fitting bonnet pins!

Fitted some sparco bonnet pins tonight to stop my bonnet sitting up so high and uneven.

1. Drill 2 holes through the factory holes in the bonnet on either side of the car. These holes if you were to look down through them, would look straight at the middle of the metal at the back of the headlights. So in the middle of the headlights roughly and in the middle of that bit of support metal.

So drill up through these holes and out the bonnet. Making sure the bit is perpendicular to the bonnet at all times.

2. close bonnet and drill through the holes you just made into the metal support the pins will go through.

3. Anchor the pins by putting the bolt through the hole in the chasis and then bolt it up on top and below. There is a nut on either side of the hole basically which holds the pin there.

4. Now adjust the height of the pin so that it is about 3cm tall for a GC8, rough guide.

5. Close bonnet and start locating the pin and support on top of the bonnet. Make sure that you do this with the bonnet totally closed and as low as you want it held down. ALSO!!! make sure that the end of the bolt which is coming through the bonnet and through the circlip thing is pressed firmly against the side of the circlip that is away from you, if you are standing in front of the car. That way, as the bonnet rises the gap is in front of the bolt and it swings up cleanly.

6. drill small holes through the circlip and screw it onto the bonnet.

7. tighten the bolts and adjust their height so that they are perfect...tighten again.

8. Lastly, using a file, make it so that the bolts go through teh circlip cleanly by grinding the rectangular holes slightly bigger in whichever direction you need.

9. Never worry about your bonnet flying up at high speeds and give your rex the rally look it was born to have.
