Default dash rattle

Hey,

I have posted before about this but thought maybe a fresh oppinion would be nice.

When driving I have a rattle commin from dash area. Originally it was a squeaky rattle. But recently there is that and also a new type of noise too. It is very very annoying. Does anyone have any noise from their dash? I have a 2002 STI. And where can I go to get this looked at / fixed or will I have to live with it?

Cheers

I found it was part of my brant system that was just kind of slapped in there with a cable tie and tended to just rattle around. maybe just take out the panel bellow ya steering and just look over all the shit under there.

+1 on the rattle in the dash - I'd like to know also. Sure you haven't got coins in your centre console? This got me once, couldnt work out what the rattle was for about 2 days ... Spot the noob!

Took mine in for same thing, as usual they couldnt find the prob.

Took a look myself and it was the old brant wires just needing a cable
tie.

Subaru mechanics HAHAHA!

Okay - dont quote me on this...but...i have had a dash rattle for ages (folk on NAOISC have also complained about dash rattle similar to mine). Turns out that its actually the front wind screen (in my case) that reverberates in the cabin i.e., its slightly loose and that it is a common problem for GDB owners, though not many people talk about it. I had my front windscreen replaced (insurance) after heaps of "stone chips" and the dull thudding went away.

Just a thought

I have the answer to you question!!!

Yes the squeeking drove me insane!
Sounded like it was behind the back of the center dash

My mate said he could here it outside the car
It sounded like a stupid bird aspecially if you accelerate and de-accelerate quckly or jerk car .

I found where the source of the problem was when i was pulling my gearbox out.

If you take off you top mount intercooler you will see a support bar from your engine to firewall. There is a rubber mount on each end thats squeeks when it moves as the mounts move.

Thats where the noise is coming from. Sound is directly behind heater unit/dash

Sorry but i dont know how to solve it. A little spray of lube there on each end of rubber bush maybe?
