Default HID question

hey everyone

i have a set of HID's in my car that i have had in for about 3yrs now and the lights are starting to dim down then brighten up.

I thought i could have had a loose wire or plug so i checked everything that i could and could not find anything.

Was wondering are the lights telling me that they are about to die on me?

Thanks for the help

Tim

possible HID's tend to have a shelf life of 2000 hours, have you tried new hid bulbs ? I believe PIAA sell them seperate from the kit but are quite expensive, it may in fact be cheaper to buy a new kit than actually just bulbs.

Happen on both lights or just one side ?

Pretty much wat saturation said. HID kits still a light bulb, but gas charged. They dont last forever. 3years sounds pretty fair. Otherwise check all plugs and wires. Also with the ballast, are they in a stable spot with minimum vibration and heat?

if happens on both sides and all circuits are good id say kit is on its way out and time to buy another, also as monster mashie recommended test voltage on battery to confirm this.
