Default MY02 Rex have shallow doors wanna fit 6.5" splits

Hi to all im new here,

ive got some 6.5" alpine splits which i wanna use in the front doors but they are too deep, does anybody have any suggestions. i dont really want to spend an arm and a leg and make custom door trims just to get them in.

Does anybody know where i might get some pods or might have some for sale etc. any suggestions will be helpful

i have noticed that most of the 6" splits are too deep to fit in those doors
what does everyone else do.

Call Grant at Alberts morley on 9276 5678 He will be able to suggest something to help you out.

and on the topic of Alberts. There is a Black 03/04/05 STI in there getting one KICK ASS system. Has 4 subs in the boot, 3 amps a heap of crap under the passenger seat and one pro install. It had huge vaulk/vault?? rims on it.

12 - 18mm MDF spacers would be the way to go.

Just grab the stock speakers, use a pencil and trace out the shape of the stock speakers.. then overlay your replacement speaker.. trace that out then jigsaw the MDF.

Pete.

6.5's will fit fine behind the factory door trim, but just not on the factory mounting ring thing...
i've got type-r 6.5" in my gc8 which are pretty deep at ~75mm and Darren managed to fit them just fine

Better yet, just take it to Technik Car Audio!

Daz will do you a decent install.

yes some 6.5" speakers will work but not if they are past 75mm deep. Then you are really pushing it in the door trims.

I went down to alberts had a look at that rex and spoke to one of the installers he was quite helpful i think his name was ryan, well he put up with all my stupid questions and was very patient with me so i think hes alright

hes suggesting some MB Quart DSE 216 splits has anyone had anything to do with these speakers
