Default How to remove cover from beneath engine?

Hey Guys

I was planning on servicing my 04 WRX tonight but I would not have a clue as to how to remove the clips from the cover that covers the base of the engine?

Is there a knack to it. Do they screw out or do you use a small screw driver to pop them out?

Cheers

there is an outer ring, and a centre shaft looking piece. Hold the outer ring in place, and with a screwdriver push the shaft out of the ring - It will pull straight out.

Does the centre shaft pop right out or just back off like a centimetre?

i think they pop out all the way but you dont have to (makes it easier) just enough to put a flat head under the plastic ring and wedge out!

i left mine off - i dont know if there is any point leaving it on?? Does any one know?

funny you ask this, i had to undo mine the other day to put my front lip on. (thanks Jay) took me ages to work out how the things worked, ended up ripping the whole thing out without pulling the centre shaft first. stuffed the clip a bit, doesn't go back on as tight but still holds.... for now.
