Default centre pocket panel

Hi guys did a search on this i came up with nothing hoping one of u can help.

How do you remove the centre air vents? the door thingy on my centre pocket (the lid thing in the middle on the dash i dunno what u call it) has come off some how and is all sloppy I'm trying to fix it but i cant find anything that tells me how to pull it all apart so i can get a look at it. Its like the hinges have come off or something. Any help is good help.

Thanks

Common prob, the hinge snaps. To take it out, with the lid open you will see a rectangle on each side. Slide a flat head screwdriver under the front of these and they lift out to reveal a phillips screw under each. With these out give it a bit of a wiggle and it sholud pop out.

Hang your tongue out to the left as you do it...

Nah just kinda up and back. If it is really stuck, then pull the stereo out and follow your way up and underneath it. forward of where the screws are you will find a plastic tab on either side. Normally these will just pop out but if not then give it a bit of a lever out with your fingers.

& don't do what I did trying to get one out, I used a screwdriver on the side & bruised the dash, had a permanent dent on the r/h side next to the lid, it came out but what a pig if a job.

I was just going to post a new thread about this issue as I couldn't find anything in a search either. I have the same prob at the mo. Most of the dash is stripped as I'm putting my system from my last car(s) in but can't for the life of me pull out the damn centre console thingo!

Considered levering with a screw-driver ala Pimpreza but I could see it heading down the permanent damage road... *sigh*

Gonna have to give it another go this arvo but I swear it feels like the centre-vents bit is going to snap! haha.
