Unhappy WRX MY04 Gauge Cluster

Hello,

My WRX MY04 on "Temp Outside" suddenly there is no backlight tonite. It usually shows green backlight. The temperature is still showing normal but no backlight. Hate when see in the dark. I'm going to bring her down to Subaru Myaree for 60k service and to check it out. Do you guys probably have any rough idea how much it gonna costs me?

I'm afraid Subaru Myaree will need to replace the whole cluster which the price gonna be ridiculous.

Thanks

Just need to replace the two pin bulb in the cluster
could DIY it
just take the cluster out and pull the bulb out and take it to your auto shop and ask for replacement and put it back in. probably a $2 DIY job

Ah... glad to hear that it's only a two pin bulb / LED.

Cheers

Same thing happened to me but to the Odometer backlight. I just pulled the clutster off, took out the blown globe and took it down to Subaru Ozzy park. They gave me a new globe for free. Apparently the globe size is rare as the repco, super cheap and auto one i tried before going to Subaru didnt have them and have never seen them before.

two screws holding it at the top (am speaking from GC8 experience but method is similar if not same)

then clips are holding it into position, just jiggle it around

Find it easiest is to remove the plastic dash below the steering wheel, as this will allow you to jiggle the cluster off easier since there's not fixed dash below it

Its not hard at all.

Go to the DIY section of the technical thread and go to the sticky page with the DIY.
I'm sure there's something on this
