Default bonnet scoop peeling

bought my wrx (my99) late last year and i saw the bonnet scoop was peeling (rest of the cars paint was fine)... it seems like a coat of plastic as it is clear. looks pretty tacky. just wondering if anyone has experienced this and how much it would cost to get it re painted.

I haven't experienced that personally. Maybe someones dodgey job of trying to repaint themselves. I would say $100-$200 should get you a nice respray from a panel beaters.

Yeah mate, just a dodgy spray job. maybe they didnt use plastic primer, although i would expect the colour and clear to peel if they did that.

not an expert on prices, but shouldnt be more than a few hundred bucks if its a standard colour.
maybe get some dents/scratches touched up at the same time, they should give you a good deal when doing more work.

Steve.

No, not neccessarily a dodgy re-spray...peeling paint on scoops (and rear spoilers) of MY 98,99,00 is quite common...even on cars which have been reasonably maintained.

My GC8 definately didnt have a resprayed scoop and the clear coat started peeling off that and i used to wash a wax that car all the time.

I've also seen a few with it peeling off the vents on the bonnet.
