Default Restoring Paint

The paint on my evo was pretty bad - very chalky and oxidised, and it was looking fairly crap. So I went to supercrap and bought one of the cheap rotary polishing tools and a bottle of meguiars #1 cutting compound. And i thought i'd have a crack.

Turns out the $25 (on sale) supercheap polisher is actually a random orbit polisher, which means it'll work really really well ... it's not just a rotary buff.

Anyway, a run over with that and a wax with gold class and it's looking very shiny now - took me about 4 hours or so all up.

There's a whole bunch of intermediate steps you can take with the rest of the meguiars range, but i didn't bother considering i'm not that precious about car finishes ... but even if your paint is extremely crappy, it looks like there's hope!

meguires polymer sealant is a good quick way to get paint beading and looking good as well ... thats an hour job max by hand.

Dont skimp on just a sealant. 2/3 coats of NXT gen wax on top and u have a FAR better finish.

Ohh dont forget the claybar before the sealant or otherwise its all pointless

What the?

When you've just POLISHED the paint, you dont need a claybar. Claybars are for removing the contaminents.

And the gold class wax is more appropriate for non-clear coat paint (mine was oxidised - remember)? - if you have a clear coat nxt gen is probably better.

He is saying claybar the car before sealing and then waxing or polishing. I cant be bothered with more than just a polish or 1 step proces.... i mean after all... just get the fucker repainted in a cool colour when it looks shit.. outside only costs like $3k for a new colour

All the paint chip offs, dents are not worth the effort. I'm currently looking for any workshop that can restore those flaws. Touch up paint simply won't do justice..

Farking morons who don't know how to open their doors....
