Default Deck Rooted?

Sound guru's!

I know SFA about sound and systems. The deck in my WRX hasn't been used for 18 months or there abouts. It still plays music, but no lights come on, nor can I skip tracks.

Would this be rooted? Let me know any thoughts so I can get a newy

Jason

Detachable face deck? Check the contacts between the back of the face and the unit. Give em a clean and see how you go

GLad someone got to trouble shooting.

If the fuse was gone - no deck operations at all.

I'd, assuming detachable face deck, would take either an eraser or even better isopropyl alcohol and cotton bud and clean the contact between the face and the installed head unit. If corrosion is large some 400 sand paper will suffice.

Always try to find a solution before throwing and buying. Quite often the components in an older head unit will be better than the "made to a $" parts of today.

hopefully its not the same problem i had with one of my old decks, i disconnected the battery for a long period with a disc in the deck. Wen i powered up it played the disc but didnt recognise one was in there. Apparently the problem could only be solved by sending back to alpine for repairs...i threw it

Well, this sounds very much alike me. I had the battery disconnected for 6 months or so, with a CD in the deck. And to spin me out even more, I pulled into a petrol station last Sunday and the deck had the track title etc. I pulled out and it's been off since. Might take it to a shop and get them to send it off. It's a near on brand new deck?
