I ended up getting the paint I needed made up at paint west in Osborne Park.
Used a bonnet hinge as a sample as it was engine bay I was painting so no code to go off. Match was spot on. Cost $59 for a litre of a solid blue acrylic.

Already had primer and thinners at home. No need for clear with solid colours.

No way I would be going anywhere near my car with a spray can unless it was for a small insignificant area, ie a lip or skirt etc. Silvers can be a bitch to match at the best of times and the right colour can still look wrong depending on the way it is sprayed. Also any metallic paint is going to need to be followed with clear coat.
If your car is a bunky then go for it but if you havent played with paint much before, I personally would not go near your car.
