I did find this which may suit I think. Doesn't ship to AU so might have to through my US post box.

So, since asking around on here and a few other places I've found some mesh which I think suits the car better than the previous Supercheap Auto mesh, and thought I might share it, in case anyone else is looking for other options.

So what was on it was run of the mill expanded aluminium mesh for that candy apple red Honda CRX look, very popular (for some unknown reason) at Autosalon some ten years ago.

The new mesh however is powdercoated black perforated hex mesh from a company in the US
customcargrills.com - Perforated Hex Aluminum Grill Mesh Sheets

Definitely pricier than the SCA stuff at around $50 a sheet as well as the fact it was shipped flat added pretty significantly to the cost, but half way through installing it all I'm already far happier with its look.

So just putting it out there in case anyone else is contemplating something new.

Cheers, Alex.

Correcto. Sikaflex, RTV, any type of adhesive of the likes. Biggest problem primarily with the bonnet vents is that you have very little room on the back of the panels to glue the mesh to, and you also have to glue the vents to the bonnet. On original it has clips that hold it into the sump under the vents, but that got cut out with the honeycomb patterned grill. It's too windy and cold to go outside to take photos today. The bonnet vents are now both finished and awaiting going back in, I'll get some snaps of what I mean after I get back from work middle of the week.

ok so with 20% off day at stupidcheap I impulse bought a couple of sheets of the black stuff they sell, have to admit i'm very happy with the result, i think i installed it upside down last time i used this stuff, either that or its a larger gauge than what they previously sold?

result:

Looks like much larger open area than previous supercheap stuff, at least what I've seen. Looks really good though, either way!

I'm playing around putting the final touches on my front bar mesh today. Having one day off at a time lately and being probably way too particular about how it looks is probably slowing my progress a lot.
