Bonnet scoop or no bonnet scoop????

Hey everyone! Just looking for some knowledgable opinions about my car :-) I have an 06 impreza and thinking of putting a bonnet scoop on it. Would this look hot? Had a quote for getting a new bonnet with a scoop or can I keep the bonnet I have and have one put on that!!

Opinions please lads and lassies :-)

apg39 08-07-2010 03:11 PM

Um.

REXXXED 08-07-2010 03:16 PM

negatory to both.

Strubaru 08-07-2010 03:17 PM

na, put a fmic on it, will look hawwwt

mitchwnz 08-07-2010 03:18 PM

If its not a WRX don't put a scoop on it. LOL I saw a Hyandai with a WRX bonnet scoop yesterday LOL!

Avalanche 08-07-2010 03:19 PM

you could just put it on to your existing bonnet but it might look funny with no hole. i would just not put one on or just buy a wrx

BoxorBeast 08-07-2010 03:21 PM

If you really want the look and think what your paying is worth it then sure why not. But it's pretty pointless, and seeing as its an impreza... might be abit silly esp if u get a STi scoop.

If you do it, put some pics up :P

haydn_wolf 08-07-2010 03:21 PM

Would look as good as if you put it on your roof.. but thats my opinion.

Fmic??

I want it to have the look of a wrx without the cost of running one and the insurance kills me as I'm under 25! :-(

Thanks guys :-)

Luigi 08-07-2010 03:41 PM

I see a lot of Lancers with a bonnet scoop as well.

I dont understand why people with a Mitsubishi want to make there Lance look like a WRX.

Strubaru 08-07-2010 03:42 PM

front mount intercooler ;)

it will obviously be just for looks as would a scoop with no tmic (top mount intercooler)

apg39 08-07-2010 03:45 PM

Non turbo Christian.

BoxorBeast 08-07-2010 03:52 PM

the clutch on a lancer might suit your girl legs a bit better then....

Startodo 08-07-2010 04:09 PM

There's a black gx going round beechboro with gold painted wheel covers and a wrx scoop... I mean seriously whats the F****** point

Isn't that the same as a girl with no boobs wearing those chicken fillets... at the end of the day it looks good until you see whats underneath.:confused:
lancer's are for girls
What's an automatic lancer for then?

Jeckle 08-07-2010 04:27 PM

As its a non turbo, it would be better to put a nice body kit on it, no rear wing.

Make it more "sled" like, low, sweeping lines, think EFigy, the modern interpretation of the old holden FJ

Jeckle 08-07-2010 04:28 PM

opps and no scoop

Bonnet scoops look pretty stupid weather they have a purpose or not. Putting one there for wank factor is just silly and a complete waste of money.

A tasteful body kit and some nice mags will make it look so much better but you are the one driving it so if you really want to do it then do it.

It will probably hurt your resale and if you go the bonnet with the hole in it you are allowing an extra entry point for water and other junk into the engine bay.

norwest_rumbler 08-07-2010 07:08 PM

its your car, do it if you want, hell go the whole hog & make a replica sti - its going to look similar to the real thing & if its what you want who cares.
personally i think all stock wrx/sti/legacy bonnet scoops look ghey

I've seen this in Morley before, at first I felt sorry for the driver as I thought it had its rims stolen and they were looking for a quick fix. But upon closer inspection I just shook my head

IMO: making a car to look like something it isnt is ghey 'not just normal ghey but kato ghey'. Might it be better to put the cash towards interior mods' like stereo etc?

Ignore them, if you want to do it go for it, I did this shitter Sportswagon up a few years ago and it sold straight away on looks, no other reason..........The girls mother had a WRX and she wanted something similar but couldn't afford the insurance and I certainly didn't lose money because of the WRX bits either.

Better than it was too.

Thanks hun!! I do value all the comments. If I go a head and do it and they don't like it...... They dnt have to look at it!! I just want the look of a Wrx I dnt care if it's not as fast..... :-p
