Change interior colour
Hey people,
I have been thinking over the last few days about changing the top half of my 04 STI interior. Basically the roof lining, A, B & C pillar plastics and remaining plastic pieces, changed from the standard white / gray ish colour, to black. I have come up with two different options. Have attached a photo of the look of the alcantara not in black though, I think it looks pretty smart. 1. Plastic paint the plastics? I assume that this will look really tacky? Change the roof lining out with black alcantara? 2. Wrap the black alcantara around the plastic panels. Change roof lining out for black alcantara. I would still have to paint interior light, roof handles etc. Has anyone used plastic paint before? How did it turn out? Might be able to chase up some black sun visors, or wrap them in alcantara too? Did any of the 01 - 05 models come out with black interiors at all? Was thinking of calling Japanese wholesale tomorrow to see what they have. I have had a pretty good look around on the net, cant seem to find anything though. Just wondered if anyone else had done this or has any info to help me complete the work? Any help or advice would be really appreciated. I want it to look as factory as possible, maybe even like it was a factory option. Cheers Simon |

Why stop with the roof lining when you could trim EVERYTHING in Alcantara??
As for people to contact... James Comi @ JC Trimming. Check out some of his awesome work on his website: http://www.jctrimming.com/ I've ordered Alcantara from these guys and they are great to deal with: http://www.jpmcoachworks.com |

Covering the plastic would be the best option as well as the roof lining. Painting, unless done to a flawless standard would look worse than the oem finish.

Its really hard to paint an interior then not damage the paint either putting it back together, or just from general wear and tear... The paint will flake, crack and peel off over time and become quite tacky. Leaving the actualy painted parts as they are looks classy enough, just think about recovering your dash, roof trim etc.. Even 'flocked' dash's look quite good (see Jester?'s thread on his car's build - the dash looks really good that way too)
