Why do Subaru bother to put a high spoiler on an STI? Why did SWRT bother to put various iterations of high spoilers on Group A and WRC's?
The answer is downforce to make the car more stable at speed.
We all know the story of the earlier WRX spoiler series....MY94 - 98 flat spoiler actually generated lift at speed; MY99-00 (originally seen on the '96 Group A rally car) generated a bit of downforce at speed; the high
V5/6 generated quite a bit of downforce...and on it went (even though the
'01/'02 had the crappy ironing board one which was quickly updated). Remember GC's and GD's are sedan cars with square back windows and flat boot lids so to get something into the airstream it has to be jacked up a bit off said boot lid.
My point is if you want a track car keep a higher spoiler, but if it's an auto salon/street crawler you want perhaps the little one (which personally I think looks almost as ridiculous as a de-spoilered boot lid)...my personal opinion only...each to his own I guess...

Tino - I have the STI limited ones if you want to have a look in fibreglass - actually have 1 in cf as well but not sure if thats the look you want?

Mines style coming as well...
I think this one turned out really nice which is mines style with some customisation on the install

cheers
Rob

Steve. I am keeping the s202 wing for dedicated track days etc, but want to have the option of changing it up hence the new front bumper and different rear wing.

Maybe one of these, no need for holes in the boot & you could probably make a similar lip spoiler, only the need for one boot and a few hidden screws.
