What are you after? Noise or Sound Quality?

If your after Sound quality try to spend as much as time as you can finding the perfect sub, 90% of what is out there is junk even the high dollar stuff.

You want it to blend in with the rest of your sound well, so you got to ask yourself do you have a good soundstage for the higher frequencies e.g midbass, treble? and most of the time the answer is no unless you have custom pods that point the front drivers at the listener, not at the transmission tunnel

The reason why in many cars 6 x 9's make a much better soundstage is that they are able to bring the sound stage to where the listener is better than the front speakers, so don't listen to the Audio Pros who tell you that you don't need 6 x 9's and just a sub because it depends on your setup.

So once you get your in car speakers and sound stage sorted, then you can look into integrating a sub into your system if you want, but if your after sound quality just "whacking a sub in" wont do any good.

You are originally correct in your first post, fronts and sub are a great combination. Budget is the biggest factor on which range of speakers and amplifiers.

If you want call me on 9275 2722 (Westside Sound and Image Morley) and I can give you some advice on your system.
