you will want like 235/40/18 or 245/40/18 tyres to fit 9.5" rim, any wider then 245 and you will scrub....im speaking from experience with an 06 STI so this is my recommendation.

18x9.5 +35 XD9's Front and rear - $1700
235/40/18 will give you a little stretch but not too much. - min$300 to max$2000 for tyres
Coilovers which are height/camber/dampner adjustable (HSD,STD,TEIN,CUSCO ect) - $1200+
roll guards front and rear - $300
wheel alignment at wheels world. $99.00+

total your looking at $3,599 all fitted and aligned, and thats the cheapest way, if you ant good tyres obviously more like $4000-$4500 and thats how you WILL make those wheel sizes fit on your car

Ok that all sounds like alot of work ahah i like the dish look but its alot of work. im thinking i may just go for something clean like this wrx from the US but go 18x9 instead of 18x9.5 like he has

and those arn't xd9's in the pic you just posted....they are xd7's, word of advice, just go 18x8.5 +44 to save yourself the head ache, its not as easy as just getting big wheels and slapping them on, do it right or not at all....tech9tyres just want your money, they wont care once you leave and get a yellow sticker....its not their problem anymore....

up to you at the end of the day but just my advice.
yeh i dont mind spending the money i just want to have someone do all the work for me and not have to worry about getting a yellow sticker if i get pulled over. If i were to get the xd9's at 18x9 +38 once the coilovers and rolling of the guards are all done will it honestly be legal? if so i will do that if not then ill just settle for 18x8.5

If you get 18x8.5 +44, you won't need to get coilovers installed to get them to fit.
Unless you want that slammed look, lowering springs might do it and you should also get some camber from them.
If that isn't enough, you can always get a set of Whiteline camber bolts to help sort the front out.
End of the day, 18x8.5 will be a lot less work to fit!

I wouldn't buy off eBay. Go genuine supplier or there is a good chance you'll get china JDM

Koby, below is a photo of a '09 WRX with 18 x 9.5" +35
It hangs out the guards by 8-10mm. If you get a prick of a cop, you'll cop a yellow. It's just a case of whether you want to risk it.

legally speaking you are allowed to increase wheel track by 25mm maximum.

only 12.5 mm per side.

the most common way of changing wheel track is by changing wheel offset.

to keep it legal and more importantly your insurance valid you can theoretically run 12.5mm less off set than the standard wheels.

for example if you car came factory with +55mm offset wheels you can change wheel offset to +42.5mm.

please note; wheel spacers, and excessive negative camber will also increase wheel track.
Strubaru, TROLLEY and Brett Allan like this.
