Default Ordering Rims from Japan Tax?

Been reading up a bit and i'm fairly close to ordering some new wheels off perfect run as soon as I work out the size rims I want and how much effort I want to put in to make them fit. But keep hearing about this damn tax :| and to ship separately to avoid it.

I've placed my whole order in the checkout etc and got my total price incl shipping. Does this mean there will be more to pay once it lands in Aus?

Halp!

Had a friend in the same situation and ended up emailing the seller asking if they would be happy to list each rim separately on an invoice with freight (i.e. 4 separate orders), this can save you a bit of money depending on the value of the rims.

From memory you will be up for 5% import duty and 10% GST for goods arriving in Australia over the value of $1000.

Edit: If you do this, have 2 of the wheels delivered to one address and the remaining two wheels delivered to an alternative address. Makes it harder for customs to place them altogether as an order and sting you for it.

From the customs page

Low value consignments up to AU$1,000 are imported free of Customs duty and taxes. Consignments of alcohol and tobacco products are excluded from this and will be charged Customs duty and taxes.

Consignments valued over AUD 1000 will be assessed for Customs duty and taxes. Duty rates vary from 0% to 10%, however most goods attract a 5% rate of import duty and 10% Goods and Services Tax (GST).

The import duty would be paid on Customs Value (actual price paid for the goods)

GST of 10% is calculated as follows:-
Actual pricepaid for the goods
Plus duty
Plus the cost of freight and insurance

Is there no option to purchase locally? For the head fuck, a couple hundred extra is easily worthwhile.

Purchasing locally is a lot more expensive even with the tax added onto the order from Japan :| unfortunately Australia is just so friggin expensive with everything

Looking at Work Kiwamis, most likely 18x8.5+38, or 9.5+38 (Don't put your'e flame suit on just yet. Have read RJ's mexican setup with the +30s lol)
If i'm not looking at too much work i'd be keen to make them fit with the 06 guards (getting the inside lip cut off and rolled so i don't have to go stance nation mexi-camber) and still able to run some decent 255s

Quote from Perfect Run would be about 2k for rims, centre caps, some sxc wheel nuts and shipping.
So adding the 15% tax onto that would be about $2300. still cheaper than somewhere like JDM Concept if i'm not wrong?

These are 18x9.5+30 done correctly imo, looks like it would rub but bring that in another 8mm would make the diffrence no?

Jake I was a mexicant haha...
+38 is what I should have gone for but it would have still needed a 245/35 or 40 (lots of stretch) to not rub and be ok.
An 18x9 with +38 to +44 would be perfect on our 06s...my advice is fuck the kiwamis and go an 18x9(Rays/Weds etc) then run 255/35s easy.
Also +38 seems to be the limit if you want no rim poking out of the guards on the rear of the 06/07s and the rim pokes out of the guards a bit even there.

Ahha yeah I don't want poke and stretch or to have a hellaflush stance nation Mexican setup lol but I would like some decent wide wheels, would like 255s and 18x9s would be perfect but silly work wheels didn't think of us maybe we wanted something inbetween 8.5 and mexican 9.5 on GDs haha
I know Tony, 8.5s are the dream but I want to make 9s fit reasonably

On a side note does anyone think the 18x9+35 rpf1s will need a big spacer up front to clear brembos? Seen Dan's old pig with 9.5 and extended studs looked good, would look better more flush doe
