Default Subaru logo on the sti - why did some come with it and others did not?

Im referring to the actual "subaru" writing across the boot such as this:

But i noticed some dont have that.

Like my my02 sti.

Is there an explanation as to why? Is it because of AUDM variants vs JDM and USDM?

Im thinking of buying one from ebay here:

Subaru Badges Emblem Sticker Impreza WRX STI | eBay

Does anyone know if the original ones are made of plastic?

Or has anyone had any experience with these?

Thanks guys in advanced,
M

MY02 STI did have it, some people choose to remove it as the boot looks cluttered.

Not sure if it's a AUDM/JDM etc thing. But for Aus, I believe it ended at the 2006 Hawkeye/Pignoses.

I pulled mine off for the cleaner look and pretty sure they were plastic. Can confirm if you need just gotta find em.

Yeah from MY06 they started to put the Subaru (Pleiades) stars badge on the back.

Hawkeye had a drilled boot with Subaru oval badge.

The cars with no boot badges at all are just de-badged by the owners (or theives).

Would not recommend these, they aren't anywhere near close to the same as the factory Subaru badge, off sizing/spacing makes it look cheap/like it's had a rear ender and been poorly repaired.

Agree with that, cheap plastic that would most likely full off within a week.

Put an add on here, or Subaru Owners WA, I've thought about doing the same thing**

So many are de-badged I'm surprised they aren't given away.

You can also go to subaru parts and order them - everything on the car has a part number - but they will be expensive!

** Sorry, you're not in Perth? Try facebook pages:
- Subaru cars/Parts Australia
- WRX and STI owners Australia

All badges can be ordered direct from Subaru so just do that, at least you know they'll be the right size and spacing and look correct.... Then it just comes down to fitting them right (which is always harder than it sounds haha!)
Slap Dash likes this.
