one problem with bug eye onwards is the large guards as well. and you need somthing wide to fill them up. the stock sti rims are they 17 or 18's ? and are they much wider than stock wrx rims.

I've got Work VS-XX rims on my car. Werent cheap when I bought them 3 years ago (4k with tyres, which was a bargain), and they still arent cheap (RRP is about 2.5 times the cost of a Work Emotion CR, per rim) but they are high quality and light for a 3 piece wheel. My philosophy is, if they aint Jap, they aint goin on the car...
I've contemplated changing to another type of wheel, but I've decided to keep these now....although the style is fairly common, the brand and type isnt. |

flavour of the month?
i reckon it depends on what you do with your car. kyms hatch looks fine with those rims on it, and its just a cruiser, so thats all it needs. on the other hand, cheap china wheels have no place on the track

lightweight, forged jap rims are where its at but at the end of the day, its your car and you do what you want to it. if you like the bling look, go for it!
its good to see that the aussie modding scene is slowly moving away from chrome crap (but its obviously still evident) but unfortunately what this means is that more and more copies are popping up. just look at your latest autosalon mag at the rim adverts and you'll see countless copies of popular jap rims. this in turn makes those who have gotten the originals from overseas deem less unique. i can open up an issue of autosalon (a mag i read a lot mind you), and spot all the tempe tyres and ozzytyres adverts and can point out which japanese rim they have blatantly copied. ive actually done it in the past on rexnet with an issue that was lying around (#44): page 2, top right, advert for ozzytyres. "nova" = volk/rays gt-v "068" = volk/rays ce28nf "rs gt" = advan rg page 105 has a full page of them for spin city tyre centre. "stage-1" = g-games 77s vaio "ve" = volk/rays te37 "gt 05" = gramlights 57pro "mach 10" = prodrive gc-10 then there are the even more blatantly obvious copies (cant remember the brand) where they've taken the time to give it a volk/rays-'look' by adding stickers on the rims that read "VORK RAVS" where you'd expect them to read "VOLK RAYS" *slaps forehead* at the end of the day, just like all philosophies behind 'modifying' your vehicle, its your car, you modify it for your own tastes accordingly and how you want your car to look and feel and perform. by with popular japanese rims becoming more and more accessible/cheaper via private importers (eg. rampant performance imports), you can now get highquality, forged, lightweight rims and not sacrifice build quality and extra weight. me? volk/rays ce28n's in bronze
