Default Recommend me a deck ....

I need to replace the stock CD/Radio deck in the GTR.

Looking for something good, affordable, etc -- I'm not a stereo junky - as long as it works well, plays CD's and looks good - thats fine with me.

A nice double din unit would be ideal - but they dont seem to make nice double din (like sony used to) units anymore.

New or Second hand is fine.

Comments and Suggestions welcome.

Dan

Eclipse are generally well regarded in the SQ circles, although I'm not too sure about their lower end stuff. If you are only spending $400 odd then I reckon you can't go past the Alpine gear. Good sound and build, if not as flashy as some, but I like the understated look of their units.

I have just bought an eclipse. Cost me 350 and its great. has lots of good features for the price (Triple 5volt pre outs etc) Its a flip face and has adjustable face angle. I was always an alpine man but Im very impressed with the unit. Has had some great reviews in car audio / motor magazines

Dan, Double din units generally don't fit into a double din slot all that well (believe it or not). They tend to be smaller then a genuine double din slot and you need to make a surround for it to make them look good. My advice is to buy a decent single din unit from one of the major manufaturers (Alpine, Pioneer etc) but I tend to stay away from Sony. Hope this helps,

Darren

Why?

I've had sony shit for years and its been fine...

I'll agree....the cheap shit is shit. But the higher end stuff isn't too bad for the price.
