Out of those two it would be RSGT's for sure Jake. Not sure why you want to change rims again so soon though.

Im looking at a set of rims that have the size marked as 17x7.0. As I understand, this should fit a wrx just fine, but how does it compare to the size of the standard my02 wrx rim? Is it 17x7.5 or 17x7.0?

the standard 02 WRX 17 is a 17x7, thats a 17 inch diamater, 7inch width. the 02 STI is a 17x7.5, but your car shares the same guards so as long as the offset is relatively normal, it should fit no issues. stock 02 is a +48 offset and sti is a +53 offset, so most 17x7.5 rims with a +53 offset will also clear brembos should you try to sell the rims later etc

Ive narrowed my choice down to a few choices. My concern is how they are going to look on a Dark Blue car (my02). Im leaning towards the lighter set of RSGT's but not sure, the 2nd set is listed as 'shadow' and the photos does look darker..... (not that Ive been able to source anywhere local that sells the RSGT's yet)
Any thoughts/suggestions/opinions?

WIN, the bronze will look hot on the dark blue

I never really liked the RS GTs, they look kinda cheap imo <3 Jimmy

So will an offset of +42 or +38 be ok? (17x7 rim)

You should be fine with +38 mate, as long as you only have the standary WRX stoppers! It will also give you a more agressive look...the +42 might fit but ultimately that will be determined by the rim spoke design...

For example my new rims are 18x7.5 +35...I had to get them with a fairly agressive off-set to clear the Brembo stoppers...

ok whoring granted but finally a decent shot of my rims.
Enkei STI 18 x 7.5 +55 not bad for stockers.
