I believed you were right John, however as of this arvo they are in for repair, and will be back before Christmas.

I did not use Alliance, I will await the results of repair and paint before commenting further.

BN01, this is where you purchased your rims from? What was the turnaround time after payment?

Seriously, the only place to go for Work wheels. Everywhere else is a rip-off. Without looking at the site, i'd suggest you should get them for $300 a piece max.

Cheers

Sorry if this sounds like a Noob question but what exactly is the 'offset' of a wheel and how does it effect how it fits?

I know the standard offset for my MY07 is 55 so im guessing when i purchase rims i have to get as close to that as possible but if i went to say 43 or so is that still ok?

Thanks

PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter) is an imaginary circle through the wheel studs that tells you the distance between them, on a GC8 & GDA its 5x100 or 5 studs in a 100mm diameter circle, on the 05-07 STI its 5x114.3 or 5 studs in a 114.3mm dia circle

Offset describes where the the rim contacts the hub & how far it is from the centre line of the rim. this will effect things like its ability to clear bigger brakes (03 GD for example wrx is +48 for 4 pots or +53 for Brembos), ability to clear your struts, clear the bodywork etc

clear as mud ?

also note that the offsets i listed above are for a 17" rim, the width and diameter of the rim will also change the offset required.

There is a thread on nasioc showing a whole bunch of rims, there sizes, weights & wether they clear brembos... but i cbf findign it atm

Thanks jEstEr

I now understand what the PCD is on the wheels.

Ii thought the Offset was also to do with the PCD but its not.

Also remember that different styles of rims will require different offsets. Ie. A Rays rim with +55 offset and a Tempe rim with +55 offset will be completely different and one may not fit your car even though it is +55. The supplier of your rims can check the fit with the factory and confirm what will and will not fit.

Not really. Two 17x8" wheels with say a +55 offset should be the same. Whether or not each wheel design will clear Brembo calipers is a completely different matter. The design of the wheel spokes aswell as wheel offset determines if there is enough clearance to clear bigger calipers.
