I have an '06 STI and had a similar dilemma a few weeks back, ended up with the following combination;

18x8.5 +30 with 225/40/18 tyres.

Rims cleared Brembos with ease and the tyre and rim combination was the closest rolling diameter to stock so speedo runs near perfect.

I'm running a bit of camber and guards haven't been rolled, rims are tucked under and sit nice and flush without any poke.

I'm running 18x9 +22 on mine 05 STI its do able oh and like -3deg maybe 4deg cant remember
front has been rolled and the rear slightly bashed out using a rubber mallet and heat gun
235/40(?)/18 all round

looking for a good condition R34 GTR rims to go on next

Got these 5x100 sti bbs wheels for the gc8 to clear the brembos and some mcgaurd sti lug nuts to keep them safe, only problem is the genuine size tyre is a little tall so need to get new rubber before they go on .... Damn it.
