Not that uncommon...especially on bugeyes...is your car still under warranty?
If so, get them replaced under warranty...

I use mother's plastic polish. Usually available from supershit/repco/auto 1 etc. I use it to maintain the lenses on my cars but it is designed to rejuvinate as well. Maybe seek that out and give it a burl. Otherwise very light cut, say a 2000 grit, something REALLY light then polish.

interesting to see how much crap gets caught in the surface of headlights, they don't have any layer of protectant unlike paint with wax or sealant etc, i guess thats part the reason why headlight protectors are made.

Use some sugar soap, just the thing to clear all the grim off the clear lenses, I use it nearly every time I wash my car, brings it up really well and takes any built up coating straight off with harm to the surface, use a microfibre cloth.

I have used mothers and meguairs plastic polish. I apply it with my Bosch RO Sander at a quadzillion rpm and it brings the lens up quite nicely.

I have not done this on the mazda but did it many of times on the WRX and the soarer with no problems.

Good old fashioned CLR.
pick it up at coles or similar.
When you've finished with the headlights you can clean the sink, vase and kettle.

Just don't wash with it!.

Just use toothpaste... simple and cheap. Wipe on with a thickish coat, and buff off.

And you can brush your teeth while you're at it...

But I wouldn't put CLR on it...too harsh...It's good for cleaning up sailboards though...
