Ecutek & Boost Control
Whats the go in wiring in a external boost control unit such as a AVCR or a Blitz Spec-R item etc ?
Has anyone gone down this path? The ecu boost controller has been struggling (read: unstable) with my particular setup. Iv had the car tuned numerous times, neither has corrected the situation. I use Lane to tune the Tek. Flooring it to full boost from stop - it holds and controls well. Part throttle and gradual boosting it is very very unstable. theres a 3-port solenoid in use already. |

Tried switching back to the stock 2 port solenoid?

I remember asking lane to switch it back, though he said it would not make any difference so i left it in.

I would think that the stock 2 port would work better with Ecutek/Verso. I would try this out before I'd fork out hundreds for a boost controller.

Not sure on the best method to fix it, but if you do go down the path of external boost control - I've been using a Greddy profec II with no issues.
It runs over and above the stock ECU with no problems at all and holds boost well. Also has high/low boost settings so you can drive around every day on low boost setting and crank it up at the press of a button when you want to hit the track, overtake, etc.

3 port holds better and has much better control IMHO (assuming its plumbed in right and you know how to control it)
I'd be looking at the PID control area's of your map. Last edited by Intra; 02-05-2008 at 01:57 PM. |

I had a similar problem with a a different car running a haltech piggyback, the stock boost control system couldnt keep up with new tune, so Sean from allstar suggested using a boost controller and bypassing the stock solenoids..
One avcr installed and tuned later and not had a boost issue since...nice smooth 20psi all day |
