Default Tuning Classes (PM only)

Hi Guys,

We will be holding tuning classes for those interested in the over-rated art of tuning.

If you go to www.efi101.com, you will have an insight as to what I am trying to do.
I can teach any smart 5 year old to tune, but the fundamentals behind tuning an engine and how to size injectors and stuff are based on very straight forward mathematical formuals.

Once you learn the fundamentals like anyone else, you can then develop your own tuning methods.

In the US and Japan, it is very common for a customer to pull out his laptop and check his workshop's tune and/or even tune the car himself. Tuning is very subjective and to be able to know and get rid of the fear of the unknown(tuning) is a great way to open up this industry.

Every driver and every track/road is very different. Knowing the fundamentals and how to tune will improve the communication between customer and tuner, and to achieve the results the customer wants.

Dates will be set for the middle to end of July.

1) Tuning 101 Basics of tuning and how to use the dyno:
This is also a 2-day course and will cover the basics of how the engine operates and by the end of the two day course, you will be able to operate the dyno and do basic AFR and Ign Timing tuning. We will also cover tuning the Apexi AFC and VAFC and AVC-R.

Details:

At this moment the 2 day course will cost A$650. The course runs for 2 days.
Each class only caters for 4 persons. We run a very hands-on course.

Each day, the class runs from 9am to 4.30pm and lunchbreak is 12-1.30pm.

At the end of the course, you will be able to load the car on the dyno, set up the dyno and run your car on it and remove the car off the dyno. You will also get to know the basics of tuning. And will be able to tune the Apexi SAFC and AVC-R comfortably.

Once you know the basics, you might want to go for the second course which goes into the details of ecu tuning. After that, it is up to you to develop your style of tuning and gain further experience like all the rest of the tuners. Tuning is an overrated thing, knowledge of how the engine works and how to tune mathematically and methodically is the key.

2) Advanced level tuning:
This is also a 2 day course and will give those who have the knowledge from Tuning 101 to get more experience and confidence in tuning. We will be using the Vi-pec software.

Interested members can PM me. Please do not answer in this thread yet until official dates are up.
