It will be interesting if Alonso goes out early. Webber needs 6th and Vettel 3rd if Alonso DNF's.
All good to go wheel to wheel but if they take each other out then Alonso still takes it. Even leaves the possibility of Hammy taking WDC if he wins and the rest fail to finish. Could all end in tears but think they will be told quite firmly before the race that the pineapples will be arriving fast and thick in fully automatic machine gun mode if they do a Turkey!!!

I was referring to the possibility of taking Alonso out.

Hmmm - how's this? RB's start from P1 & 2, Alonso 3rd/4th on grid & locks-up going deep into Turn 1 taking out both RB's, meanwhile Massa gets distracted at the carnage up front & turns into Lewis - BANG!!
Alonso WC!

Massa would need to be closer than 18th on the grid or whatever mediocre spot he qualifies in.
Heres how it will go. Lap 1 Webber and Vettel tangle, Vettel loses a lap with a cut tyre and Webber is out on the spot. Lap 37 Alonso's dog tired motor grenades in a big way. Lewis wins, takes title by a point.

Alonso must surely be due for a DNF?! He has been on engine rations since mid season.

If it's a 1-2 RBR with Alonso 3rd, a kamikaze into Alonso by Vettel would be an epic finish for sure.
If Massa hadn't of let Alonso through earlier this year, the points difference would have been closer than it is now. Definitely a race to watch. ________ Laguna Bay II Condo Pattaya Last edited by fffffred; 22-08-2011 at 06:44 PM. |

My favourite outcome; Vettel, Webber, Hamilton, Button, Alonso.
Vettel, Webber, Alonso tie on points (256); on count back Webber is knocked out because he has the least wins (4). Vettel, Alonso tied on 1sts (5), 2nds(2), 3rds(3). Guess who would win the championship on countback of 4th place finishes? Unless Webber can fight to the front on his own merit Vettel isn't going to let him through, hes still very much in this championship. Maybe on the last lap on the last corner, if Alonso is still in third place... but then how hollow would the championship be for Webber? Lets just hope he can find that extra tenth to get infront of his team mate in qualifying. As for engines you'd have to think Alonso will struggle. Hes done the most laps, his team mate has already used 9 engines and done a lot less laps, and hes already blown up a couple in practice sessions (to be fair they knew they would break). I guess the only difference is we dont know how many laps each driver has on their "freshest" engine. I think the top three drivers have all won a race on a "3rd race" engine though, so its obviously not a huge disadvantage running a high mileage motor. Racing laps completed Pos Driver Laps completed 1 Fernando Alonso 1065 2 Michael Schumacher 1023 3 Felipe Massa 1019 4 Sebastian Vettel 1011 5 Jaime Alguersuari 990 6 Mark Webber 988

The one the FIA tried to steal from him in 2008?

Has he had another? I thought that was his on WC. He won it on the last race of the season coming 4th or 5th after Timo Glock stuffed it? Massa could have had it otherwise.
