Two-year suspended ban for Renault over Singapore conspiracy
Well i think it was a light sentence.. should have been for 10 years in my opinion!

You have to ask is a two year ban strong enough.
I mean asking driver A to slow down to allow his team mate - driver B - to pass and win is one thing, but asking/telling him to crash is another. especially at the speed that these cars do. |

I think you will find the bans on the team are tame because it was fairly well out of the loop to the decision to have the crash.. As it was mainly put together by 3 people and everyone else was kept out of it.
Team got a suspended ban as obviously they have to be seen to be being punished in some way. Briatore has been dropped like a sack of shit and will never be involved in the sport (in a visual presence or on paper) ever again aswell as those associated with him. Symonds copped the same treatment as above for just 5 years Piquet stuck up a deal and kept himself in a car but you have to ask what it will do for him in the future. Its all pretty fair but I think Piquet should have copped a ban but FIA was obviously after the other two and had the foresight that it would prolly ruin Piquet anyway.

No doubt the revenge will make him feel better but has stuffed his career in the process. Any idea what he is going to do now?

Interesting paragraph from the article above:
As regards Mr. Briatore, the World Motor Sport Council declares that, for an unlimited period, the FIA does not intend to sanction any International Event, Championship, Cup, Trophy, Challenge or Series involving Mr. Briatore in any capacity whatsoever, or grant any license to any Team or other entity engaging Mr. Briatore in any capacity whatsoever. It also hereby instructs all officials present at FIA-sanctioned events not to permit Mr. Briatore access to any areas under the FIA’s jurisdiction. Furthermore, it does not intend to renew any Superlicence granted to any driver who is associated (through a management contract or otherwise) with Mr. Briatore, or any entity or individual associated with Mr. Briatore. In determining that such instructions should be applicable for an unlimited period, the World Motor Sport Council has had regard not only to the severity of the breach in which Mr. Briatore was complicit but also to his actions in continuing to deny his participation in the breach despite all the evidence. Hopefully just an idle threat or they know it gives grounds for exit of contracts for those drivers involved. I know he was Webber's manager not sure now. Anyone?

By saying if you are associated with this man you will not race here will be a pretty easy out if challenged. If they hadn't done this he could walk away and do screw all and would still likely be taking money off all his contracted drivers.
