Singapore F1

Just wondering how many are heading to Singapore for the race and where your staying?

Have already booked flights accommodation and race tickets!! September can't come soon enough

TheDoctor 10-03-2012 02:05 PM

I've booked my race tickets but not my flights or accommodation yet. So I don't know where I am staying yet. I need to wait and see how much leave from work my partner can get first.

I was talking to Jason this morning and he's given me some brochures so my girlfriend and I will be able to make a decision soon.

ImPreSiV 10-03-2012 02:28 PM

I'll be going again hopefully... Will stay near Newton again as I did last year.

jasonmurray 10-03-2012 02:29 PM

I might try and see if I can win a spot at the GP.

Anyone else need help with getting over and accomodation??? Always happy to help out P-WRX mates!

wild_rx 11-03-2012 10:22 AM

Im staying in marina bay at the V hotel

DamoESP 11-03-2012 10:45 AM

I was going to go to Singapore.....but decided to go to Malaysian GP instead (cheaper :P)...only 9 days till I leave :D

ImPreSiV 11-03-2012 03:15 PM

Tim, I'd love to stay in Marina Bay but with the road closures and increased traffic it makes it impossible to get a taxi to get out of your hotel to do anything else. This is why I stay on the other side of town. And it's also 1/6 the price

wild_rx 11-03-2012 03:40 PM

True, hadnt thought about that! Only thee for 3 days though so hopefully will be ok

DamoESP 14-03-2012 12:07 PM

Just seen the F1 Fanvision things they seem to sell/rent at the tracks. Anyone here used them before, are they worth the money??

Anthony, you got an Area 4 Walk About or you seated? I am spewing I am missing this this year... I had a ball last year, it was so much fun! I will be in Melbourne a couple of weeks later though this time... something different. Been to Singapore 9 times now. If any of you are going for the first time and want some tips on places to eat or go or shop, shoot me a PM. I know Singas pretty well.

Have seen cheap flights come up lately, for Singapore, for the dates of the F1.... have been so tempted :/

Rexxar 12-09-2012 12:03 PM

wouldn't recommend getting arrested in Singapore

Riggs 12-09-2012 02:06 PM

I realise this, how we avoided it last time I don't know.

timmy35851 12-09-2012 06:20 PM

Buy the ezlink card with say $20 take public transport its very cheap, MRT/Buses goes to all places* in Singapore, It all in english and easy to read - if unsure ask the ticket person

If not taxis are also cheap but can get pricey depending on distance, traffic etc

Hawker food is teh best imo and their health food standard is pretty good(all stores will have a A,B,C cert somewhere on the front[A being the best]) compared to say Spencer village lol

Alcohol are not cheap but you can get it from say 7'Eleven or other 24/7 stores, bring some duty free

Heaps of cheap place to shop from very cheap to very expensive

Can't comment about the races haven't been to one :(

ImPreSiV 13-09-2012 08:12 AM

I was in the walkabout section last year, and I managed to get a pretty good spot just after turn 7, so as you walk under the track through the thoroughfare you pop up and it's sorta near the stage / grass area. We sat there for a few laps but then went and watched the whole race on the big screen at the concert venue. It was awesome.

Newton Hawkers for food - THE BEST!

MRT's are a great way to get around, but if you're with a group, taxi's can often be as cheap.

Orchard Rd is the main shopping district. There is also places like Funan Plaza and Sun City for IT and Electronics etc.

EXPLICIT 13-09-2012 08:56 AM

I have serious concerns for my liver.....

American Dave 13-09-2012 09:04 AM

just dont jump off a roof and into a palm tree

spec 04 13-09-2012 10:40 AM

vivo city is also a great place to shop with views of sentosa from certain restaurants as well. when my daughter is a few years old will take her there as she currently loves watching F1 as a 6 month old

huggy_b 13-09-2012 11:36 AM

also check out Orchard Towers - its the shopping mall that is open late

Port Adelaide player did that in Vegas early in the week.

Didn't bounce too well.

TheDoctor 14-09-2012 07:47 AM

The day of the Grand Prix is also my Birthday. :)

Once I've had a look around on the Thursday and found a nice bar I might post up a Perth-WRX/Antilag met up and get drunk for my birthday post for the Monday.

inrextc 14-09-2012 08:18 AM

I'm leaving on Thursday night and staying at Marina Bay Sands. Had a blast last year, cant wait to do it again!

EXPLICIT 22-09-2012 03:41 PM

Arrived here 6am on Wednesday, managed to get a decent sleep last night for the first time since landing. Did I mention I'm partaking with some genuine degenerates?

The infrastructure and logistics of Singapore, combined with F1 is awe inspiring. Qualifying tonight!
