I like the part when hamilton is stripped of his pole because his hot lap doesnt count :-)

He will be ropeable, pretty funny :)

I think I speak for most people when I say F1 was the most exciting in the 1970-1980's, where 800-900BHP was the "soft-cock" cars and 4-BAR of boosty goodness was where the real men were at :)

Where powersliding out of fast corners and onto the starights was just driving, where if there was a gap you dived in and where every race could be, and sometimes was, your last.

F1 now-a-days is 1000% safer for the drivers (good thing), more poitcal (bad thing) and more limited by rules and regulations.

However it is good to see the most cars from the major teams (and some minor teams) mixing it up. EG: LOTUS being the car to beat on the straights, RED-BULL being the team to beat on the fast corners and Mclaren being the ones to beat around the rest.

Not too sure how I will feel in 2014... with 1.6L V6 and Turbo?!

Which is one of the biggest reasons I'm going to Singapore this year. I wanted to see them while they are still ultra high revving scream machines.

They will be missed... still the new V6's will rev their little turbo's off to the sound of 15,000RPM (limited by F1).

And as for the speed factor of the new cars I will be looking to the past. In the 1965 - 1985 seasons 1.5L was the max capacity for a forced induction motor and they were putting out over 800BHP average in race trim (2 examples of 1300-1500BHP in practise and qualifying!!).

I'm 99% sure the new cars wont be much more powerful then they are now but the extra torque and less weight should make for more enthusiastic corner exits :P

Those 900hp monsters of the 80's ... were turbo. Sounded brilliant. Just like the new Indycars.

Lewis losing pole = me so angry

Im with you TJ as im a long time Mclaren fan...
I watched the interview with Martin Whitmarsh after the quali 3 and his body language showed something that was abit awry! Was a really bad bad call by McMerc and Lewis lost out big time.. i reckon with his quali time even if he had 10kg fuel he'd still be on pole..

hopefully he can do a Häkkinen-esque performance (recall Austria '98/99.. bumped by team mate DC to back of grid and fought his way up to 3rd)

teejay 13-05-2012 11:48 AM

Apparently the mechanic plugged the fuel rig in, turned it to drain for a couple of seconds before realising his mistake. Tried to tell the engineers but they had already called to send the car out.

Basic fuckups, what a joke.

FAIL.. so thats 2 sackings in Mclaren in the past 3 or so weeks! lol

You beat me to it... Was just thinking the same thing! The team will look pretty scarce by the end of the next race :P
