Beltronics V940A Radar and Laser Detector

Hi All,

If I can get 10 buyers I can get these for $390.00 each, the RRP for these is over $500.00.

Have these units been tested locally?
I'm only concerned because Beltronics/Neltronics are notorious for rebadging US models as 'Australian Exclusive Versions'...

All the Vector series radar detectors from Beltronics have the exact same hardware (internals) it's only the software that differs.

It's also the same antenna as the RX65 (Bel's M4 antenna)

So the Bel vector 940 is exactly the same as the Bel Vector 995 - except they have "disabled" some of the higher programming functions in the 995 such as turning off individual radar bands.

Now this 940a is just a different software program to the normal 940, which allows the user to switch individual bands on and off (like the RX65 or STi) - obviously in our case, it means turning off X-band.

The 940a was released at that price point to compete with the Whistlers being available from the Aus distributor for $499 (still over twice the retail price in the US I might add)

The 940a does not have Ka narrow band mode for enhanced Multanova detection, and it still scans the entire 2.6GHz Ka-band frequency range of the US (33.4 - 36GHz) when in Australia, we only have a 1.0GHz range allocated by the ACMA in the Ka band range (34.2 - 35.2GHz)

It will detect Multanovas OK when mounted vertically, but I'd hardly call it an Australian version.

I still recommend you buy an Escort X50 or if you have the money the Valentine V1 and get a vertical bracket to go with it.
