I'm about to buy Windows 7 in the next couple days..
just trying to decide to get either 32bit or 64bit.

Only thing I can't work out is if my mother board is 64bit.

I have a Intel Core 2 Quad CPU I'm assuming that is 64 bit.

My mother board is a Gigabyte P35-DS3P

Any body able to help put some light on to it for me.

I tried looking through specs i tried SIW and CPUZ
but nothing tells me what it is .. most stuff defaults and tells me
I have 32bit vista installed.

Other than cpu and mother board things like memory and the likes will all work ?

any help be great as I would rather get 64bit as I am assuming it will run faster and utilize more of my system etc to its full potential ?

anything new will support x64, unless you buy some quirky non intel chipset.

without 64, your limited to 4gb ram.

win7 x64 can also run anything from windows 95 upwards. there is proper backwards compatibility tools (not the xp mode) that can run anything other then 16 bit apps.

Go for x64 for sure. There is no reason NOT to! But whether you might use more than 4gb of ram or not depends what your doing with the pc.... photoshop with some big raw files can push things up pretty quickly. or video.

I am running the 64bit Windows 7 RC at the moment and have no problems with progs or accessories. Even most of the open source/shareware stuff has 64 bit specific these days.

So that mother board should be ok ? It was purchased in either late 07 or early 08

Drivers and the likes is not usually an issue ?

So it was outdated either early 08 or mid 08

i have that same motherboard tim... i am running win7 pro x64 on it atm... its fine.

you should be fine mate. Windows 7 64bit runs great. Your CPU and Motherboard will work well. No driver issues should be had at all

Wicked Should be good then will be good to utilize all the ram in there for a change too haha.
