If you can get foxtel in the donga see if you can get a cable modem thingie - assuming its a cable connection and not sat link.

My bro is at Laverton and he just requested a phone line to his donga for emails and shite - he had to pay install himself, but company didnt raise any objections.

Most remote sites use portable accomodation, so even the 'good' rooms for staff with ensuite are still pretty small if your not used to them (unless your senior management).

Previous sites I've been at I've been able to connect phone (pay costs myself) to my room, but the more remote you get, the less phone lines available out from the site, so chances are less. Current site has only about 50 outgoing lines, so no phones in rooms except for exceptional circumstances. Teltra mobilenet works here so just use mobile for calls, internet room or work for net. They are looking at camp wide wireless broadband which would be great. We have sat link foxtel I think. Not too sure about Murrin, each site is different.

Minara own all the accom on site. BOC rent from Minara They are dongas. The ensuite dongas are better than the single dongas , but they are small and basic. Dont exspect 5 Star, if it was in a town you wouldnt pay to stay in them.

You can get CDMA coverage for internet via CDMA Modem (Your Cost) at Murrin, but no phoneline to your room. Contractors can get access to internet on Minara's network if its needed.

Telstra mobiles work at Murrin.

I agree with Ethos, no matter what you have been told, you are a Contractor ie the bottom of the food chain. Minara employees get first preference.

I take it you have not been to Area C for a while!
I put Internet comms into the whole village at area c last november. They are running nortel switches at the end of every donga and is hooked in to BHP's optic fibre back to newman. I was up at Area C only 3 months ago and saw how well it was working.

P.S Telfer has telstra gsm coverage

Murrin has telstra gsm coverage, but I dont think they have lines in the dongas as a couple of my mates worked there and their main complaint was that they couldnt get internet.

Anyone know if there is any of this access up at Dampier? My gf's bro is at Dampier on a Rio Tinto site, and he is keen to get some sort of wireless internet for his laptop..

AFAIK, his donga doesnt have any wired access points..
