Default Insurance on cars with bigger turbos

Thinking whether to upgrade to a bigger turbo and wondering if insurance will be a problem ?

I was with HBF they said no so I went to RAC, you will always find someone to insure you. It might cost you a bit more though

Some companys do not like modifications, and some don't mind, best to enquire with several companys, and tell them your plans, and if they would be ok with that.
If they say no, on to the next company.

My old wagon I had insured with RAC, and I told them i was putting on a new Turbo, FMIC, TBE, Fuel pump, lowered and ecu. They were fine with it, and it didnt cost me anymore, plus value of parts were covered!
I have been with RAC for a while though....

Red face

Go for the APS kit cong fu!!!! just when you secribe it to the insurance just act like its a small mod.
I describe my mods as only minor ones...... i reckon most of the people that do the insurance dont really know what they are...
I said I had intercooler, bov, exhaust, ecu it was fine..... and then i said AIR FILTER....they then said they had to check with their superviser.
out of all the mods I had they only stopped me on the air filter.
Suppose i assume they have a check list...

You say:

Turbo: Larger intake compressor turbine
Intercooler: Intake charge heat exchanger
Boost controller: Manifold pressure controller
ECU: Engine economy management controller
Lowered Springs: Reduced geometry suspension.

Make it sound like a good thing. Make it sound scientific.

Always disclose your cars mods, in the off chance that something bad happens to your car, and they find out that you didnt tell them something about the car, they have the right to void your insurance and claim....
