plus dont forget theres -no- margin in selling motec hardware- it is very unattractive to workshops to get involved with them.

also, if you think you can get a car fully tuned, cold start, correction maps and be safe for under 13 hours of dyno time, you are dreaming.
Why would you go for the gold box when you can get the the OEM plug & play board & eliminate wire in time?

If i was going to pay $3000+ just for tuning of a street driven car, I'd be calling STi Docklands, Possum Bourne Motorsports, Protechnica Racing, Michael South, et al for a quote to fly in & do it.

it doesnt matter who tunes it, a full motec tune isnt acheived in 2 hours unless its ghosted/altered, or unfinished.

end of the day... there is a perfectly good plug and pray autronic in the FS section for 1500 squids. Until we see an actual quote from ASG with a breakdown in costs... it's all hearsay. If you really want a motec visit Speedworks, BRE or... I think its Tony Flood who is the other retailer, and compare prices. As stace said, there is less than 5% markup on MoTeC gear so you won't be getting a "do it cheaper for kesh" scenario.

The M800 OEM ECU, Advanced functions & anti-lag should cost about $3600 - so $3800 sounds about right for the M800 and additional features - which leaves $3400 for tuning - WOW! Say @ $250/hr that's 13.6 hours of dyno tuning.

DarkMoose is selling an Autronic PnP in the forsale section for $1500 - looks like a really good deal when compared to the above - http://www.perth-wrx.com/vb/sale/11668-autronic-pnp-v1-99-antilag-rotational.html
Cause a motec alone, is a dab under the 3k mark, add the 5 hunge or so to get it enabled, then another 5 hunge or so for the wanklag and wankidle

then factor in a couple of hours to install and wire in the air temp sensor, remove the AFM and other under the bonnet fidigiting..

then slap it on the dyno, do all the intermediate load tuning, light tuning, then full power tuning, which will take a good 4-6 hours

then add in some road tuning time to suit the driver, plus the cold start, antilag and rotational setup, because everone wants a different level of wankbang and wanklump

7k is about right..

Have used other workshops and all star for my car. Seans tuning skills are up there with the best in Perth and he would now be my only choice for tuning. I have personally proven this by having my car (MoTeC) retuned by a couple of different tuners and experienced first hand the results Sean was able to get out of the car as compared to the others efforts. Better driveability, more power, more sensible afr's and all the graphs more linear.

RE ECU's MoTeC is really only an option for wank factor or if you have serious tuning or track work in mind to make use of its extensive capabilities. If the guys had been doing Verso tuning of evos at my time of purchase I would have been sorely tempted to look into it given the cool features available.
