My03 STI Non-engine work in engine bay: sti strut sti braided brackes line HID lights upgrade oddysee battery usual cold air induction by APS systems front DBA slotted disc with endless pad New KYB shocks( only done about 15thousand K's in them) all round with KINGS springs. Exhaust systems: exhaust manifold extreme HPC coated, to a APS tapered up-pipe to turbo ( also extreme HPC coated, to AVO 400 turbo, then flange to APS cast iron extreme HPC coated , to full 3 " normal HPC coat to muffler tip at the end. These pretty much keep the thermokinetic heat in the exhuast system to spool up the turbo pretty quickly twin water spray activate from 7lbs boost onwards. Sti OEM clutch Interior: Defi electonic gauges for boost and oil pressure. APexi AVr to control boost Autronic computer running feul managment system Engine : full rebuild 2.5lt sti short motor Argo Conrods CD forged pistons Arp Stud Kit Standard STI head ( balancdd etc ) (AVO400L or 450 to upgrade) AVO400 turbo... Tuned to 210kws at 18psi guy i spoke to over east who built it said, that putting any more boost than that into it wouldnt be wise? as it could cause it too blow? Now can anyone help me with that? is that not bad for 40 grand? and is that a good rebuilt 2.5 sti motor etc?

Forged pistons and rods are a good start. As for boost issues that normally relates to standard pistons which may crumble at any sign of pinging..
The problem with the 2.5s is they have thin bores and may be prone to ovailing out at high boost appplications. But in saying that the U.S guys are running 25-30psi and have not found this to be a problem (Well there not addmiting it). i think u can run upto 25psi safetly and u have to remember how many times ur gonna be on he limit of the car, not many unless u intend on tracking the car regulary In terms of pure resale, the sti would be a better bet imo but dosent have all the bang as that 03 wrx in terms of future power. But im sure ud be happy with 230-250kw atw that the sti brings.. The stis engine would also look fairly stock with the standard mount for the turbo so should pass pits fairly easily.

thats a good point, yeah think i might go for that sti with the rebuild, im sure later i could do some more if i felt prone too...
seems like a good deal for whats in it, the guy spent a fair bit of coin, and is a doctor in QLD, so money wasnt a issue... thanks for the advice anyone else got some input?

Thats if uve got forged pistons and rods.. Which u wouldnt have unless u rebuilt the 2.5... but the U.S guys have run that amount of boost on an untouched 2.5. I think if u can get the tune right with no pinging then it should last, but very hard to do so.
