yeh it might help the cars strength BUT wrc drivers heads are protected by the seat and by a helmet. Human head V Rollcage in a crash would prob be a different story. And when it comes to being cut out by jaws of life or removed in a serious crash, i think a cage would be more of a hinderance.

Damm what a mess of a WRX that looks like. R.I.P to the driver but what speed and what must of he had been doing to be able to hit a poll of cut the car in half on a straight road with little to no other cars in the way.

Yeah, I have, its quite scary. To cause that kind of damage the car mustve been moving rather quickly, and to do something stupid in the wet....well......
Its been suggested an oil patch or aqua planing my have contributed to the crash, even if this were so, in most of these kind of situations, it would have been avoided by driving with more care. (NOTE: I said MOST not ALL)

Shame to see something like this.
So please, everyone, take more care, especially in bad weather, its simply not worth it.

Brocky had a roll cage, racing seat, racing helmet, dry roads and a wealth of driving knowledge. Didnt help him tho. Just cause you drive a AWD car doesnt mean your not going to loose it, and when you loose it in the wet your going to loose it big time. I suggest doing a wet skid pan @ AHG and then you will really see how easy it is to loose control of a wrx and how hard it is to regain control.

Yeah, was diverted last night from Alexander drive at about 1:30 by the cops, didn't realise it was something this bad though.

As for alexander drive being straight... if the guy was travelling northbound there is a righthand kink at the old folks home (??) which could potentially be dangerous. I dont know exactly where it happened, but it would have been the stretch just south of caltex.

RIP
