Default Insurance Payout Times?

Hi all, just wanted to see how long it has taken others to get a insurance payout on their rex's that have been writen off.

My insurance co is taking its sweet time, its been a month since
i claimed and the assessors report was only put in last week after
some harassment.

He told me it was a write off 4days after i claimed so why the delay.

Now my claims officer has said he recieved the report last week but
hasnt even looked at it yet and might get around to it this week.

Its giving me the shits big time as im in China til friday and my sister
is dealing with them, thought it would be sorted by the time i got back.

Has anyone elses payout for a write off taken this long?

i was with western QBE when my rs was written off earlier this year.

it happened on a friday, and by the monday lunch they had told me it was a write off. and they had done pretty much all their work.
i went and took my goodies off it.

think i got the check within 2 or 3 weeks. would have been much earlier as i couldnt find the pink slip and rego papers for the car.

they were pretty good. part from ripping me off with the payoff

Did you have new car replacement at all?

This is what i have and the replacement cost is around 47k, so im
hoping thats what they will pay me due to the model no longer being
available in black.

How much did you end up getting if you dont mind me asking,
PM me if you like with the differance compared with replacement.

i had a liberty rs... no new car warranty unfortunately hahah!

i bought it at a reasonable price. only had it for 3 and a half months when i got rear-ended.
and i got paid out 2k less than what i paid. certainly wasnt happy. but it was insured at market value. and they made twist and turns when it came to paying out in the end. was pretty devastated losing the 2k plus about 3k spent on it. they wanted my stereo too which was worth 3 and a half. but i went there with a school bag and went into the garage and took it all. and left a sh1tty little tape deck. as thats what my insurance policy had said. payback! but was bittersweet.

sorry cant help with the new car replacement but!
maybe give that Insurance Ombudsman (1300 780 808) a call that darkmoose mentioned in another post to see what they think.

Hi all, just thought id update whats going on with my payout.

Last Wednesday I got the call that the insurance was ready to payout
and just needed details from my finance co to pay them and a copy of
my rego then they would send me a cheque for the rest.

All this was done within 1/2 an hour and confirmed by insurance co
that they had received all requested forms and info, I was then told the
finance co would be paid out the next day and also my cheque would be there
on friday for me.

I waited til yesterday for my cheque but it still hadnt arrived so I called the
insurance co to see what was going on, I was informed by my claim officers supervisor (due to him not being there) that they hadnt recieved any of the
requested forms or info and therefore not payed the finance co or sent me a
cheque.

I was also told that I must have got it wrong about the finance payout and my cheque being sent last week as it takes 5 days to process as it comes from Sydney.

I argued this point and was pretty much told im full of shit and must be making it up and they would never tell someone this info, this went on for
awhile until they agreed it must have been a mistake on their part.

I had to re-send all the info and then was told they would process it on Tuesday and then send me a cheque next week.

It will be 7 weeks from the date they wrote off the car to when im supposedly
getting my payout cheque which I think is utterly rediculous.

Soon as i get my cheque im cancelling my policy and they will never get
my business again.

Great insurance company, they really look after you!!!!

PM me for who they are or work it out from this bit of info.

"I got the insurance when I bought my subaru new from a dealership"

Not saying its them but maybe someone who does there insuring

Hint hint!!!! = ALL1@NZ

Doesn't HBF do the Subaru Insurance. Think that was who it was when I got mine. I asked the question but they were 50% more than RAC. Obviously Subaru get a slice!!!

Flame me if i'm wrong and I will delete.
