Default Insurance & Ecutek/Verso

Hi All,

I need to tell my insurance company about my mods. I've done a search but want to know if those who have Ecutek/Verso have declared it??

I'm going to declare the exhaust, fuel pump and silicon hoses, but do I declare the Ecutek?? I mean Ecutek is still the standard Subaru ECU?? So, how is it a mod??

Do I also declare the STi front lip and STi pink springs - they're Subaru factory items??

Any comments??

Cheers
Zombee

When I got my 07 wrx insured I told my insurance about the springs and they said as long as they are a subaru standard accessories then its not classed as a mod even if its an STI part.

I'd tell them about the pink springs and lip so that if the car is in an accident you can insist on it having like components or at least some chance of getting them to let you remove those items and fit to the replacement car which doesn't have them.

Dont bother with the remap or the lip, but if you're in an accident, you cant include the lip as part of your claim.

Springs might be worth declaring thought. They can be picked on by your insurance as causing an accident (god forbid) if they really wanted to pick on you.

ECUTek / Verso is just a re-tune, no real need to disclose. If anything tell them you've had it re-tuned for economy

Everything else on your car I'd disclose. All it means is should you car be stolen/written off you'll get everything you have disclosed back. Don't declare it and it's gone.

RAC dont seem to care about any mods.

Dont charge you any more either unless you want the part covered on your policy.
