Default Noob wants an MY05 Sti

Hey All,

Have been reading your forum for while now and it looks like there's lots of keen, knowledgeable people here.

By the end of the year hopefully I'll be the proud owner of an 05 Sti. Have been doing lots of research (evo vs sti bla bla) and decided this is the model I want (need!!!). There aren't many on the market yet and they seem to holding their price esp at the dealers. Hope to get one pretty much free of mods and then get them done myself. Will be using it for Club, Dutton, Targa (if I can afford it) sort of stuff.

What sort of things will I have to watch out for when buying a second hand 05 Sti?

Cheers,

Matt.

Personally, i think its the most solid built wrx (and sti) for that matter. Using the last of the 2ltrs with forged internals etc and DCCD (i think its the first with DCCD ey?) a very good car to buy.

Pig (06) STIs are also a go i think, either/or

Hi mate, if subi osborne park still has the silver 05 sti with
22,000kms try to get that one.

Its advertised for $47,990 or $46,990 just say you saw it advertised
at Wangara subi few months ago for $44,500 and they will honor
that price

All ready went through that with them but decided to get a new std one
and spend more money elsewhere.

How so...please explain...all the STi's come with forged internals from 02 on yeah? I know early STi's didn't come with DCCD...

I suppose what I also need to know is weather a modified Sti 05 (or bug eye) is an option. Obviously it would have had a pretty actice life...but does the drive line (C.V's, drive shafts, gear box, cluch components) and other stuff you can't see suffer from any major issues. Sure I plan to drive it pretty hard eventually so is it worth worrying about?

Also it looks like the wrx family is observant - have to be carefull ...ha ha
