I had a Liberty wagon freighted from Melbourne to Perth in Feb this year. Cost just on a grand with TNT. Truck to Adelaide, then train. Took about a week, good service, no damage. Just have to pit the car when it arrives like any unregistered car and pay stamp duty unless you owned it before interstate.

Get it registered and pay stamp duty over there - cheaper and will get refund of unused license over there. Ditto on pits and cost me about a grand to truck over.

Had one of my other cars freighted from Sydney over to here when I moved over like the other guys have said about $1K to freight. My only suggestion is do not go through TOLL as it went from tuck to train in Adelaide and on the train the car was broken into... they stole my A/F ratio gauge and scratched both doors...lucky insurance covered it.

To my knowledge all cars freighted into Perth come on the train, no matter which company you use. Excluding dodgy on top of cargo freight cash in hand deals of course. Car must be empty of luggage etc and a good idea to remove valuable stuff that provokes theft as stated above.

Can be done by truck,

We got our rally car freighted from sydney to perth for 1200,

and on the return trip from perth to melbourne its 900

Cant remember the name of the company, but in case this gives you an indication of price.

Ours was full of rally tyres rims, petrol drums (empty), and spare parts .

Slightly off topic: When you purchase a car in another state, can you pay the stamp duty there but not live there?

Since there are more new car dealerships on the east coast, I have found you can get a much better deal than in Perth but not sure about the stamp duty.
