Sell STi, take it to MWS and walk away with a new 700hp blown 6l! FUN times indeed!

ive had a sit in the new ve gts that was being kitted up with a twin turbo kit. totally sleeper and goes like a bat out of hell, all while havin the kids in the back watchin dvds on the screens in the headrest.

Was considering a new VE R8 myself. Something a bit more cruisy than the STi, but still hauled ass. But me, in a Holden? Wouldn't be right!

6 litres makes for a very good way to move near on two tonne.

They are totally different animals to drive, but with the right approach, can be fun, and importantly, rapid.

Definitely a better cruiser. Definitely a worse "race" car.

So a Sti and HSV kinda meet in the middle, and then it simply comes to choice - do you want more room, effortless cruising torque, or something a little bit more crass but more dynamic?

Horses for courses.

how do they both compare down the drags though??? i thought i saw an article in wheels a while back which said the sti was 0.2 seconds faster?? does anyone know?

who gives a shit lol
the GTS would looks better going slower anyway :p

BTW - regarding handling - if i remember MOTOR mag did a few laps around one of the tarcks over east.. for their COTY.. the HSV's were lapping very competativly... its just u gotta get used to the RWD..
in my case - id lose it and kill myself.
love it

The one thing that would scare the shit out of me (and why I very much doubt I will ever own another australian built car) is the build quality. They look nice inside but remember that all the switch gear etc is the same as the taxi that picked you up from subi on saturday night.

My understanding is that the VE is a quantum leap better than previous generations but I am over compromise. It is not a race car and is not really a long distance tourer.

I got out of my XR6T ute and hung out for the new maloo. Whilst it looked porn I ended up spending more coin and buying a different ute purely and simply because of my issues with shit house build quality.

My 2c
Yeh BUT, its twice the price so of course you get more. At least you'd want to!

New VE HSV's are bombed. Even the SS's look tough. AFAIK my younger bro is either buying a VE R8 or VE Calais. My old mans trading his wrx on one and actually picks it up tomorrow arvo!

Only issue i can see is lack of boost. 50K at MWS will see that slight issue fixed :D Cubes AND boost FTW

They arent race cars but not all of us are race car drivers ;)
mat can you get more bogan

I like the Senators much better lookswise. So much more understated. Just as much power as the GTS, still get the Magnetic Ride Control suspension.

I'll take one in white thanks!

my mate bought the 07 SSV 6 ltr auto blah blah goes farkin hard, seats are great, finish very much improved, brakes are average, colour is not my fav but all in all much improved and for the price, just a tad over $50K, a pretty nice option now. The Yanks are drooling over the Pontiac GC8 version too!
I could be tempted but awd, brembos and relative light weight still do it for me.
